Please prepare accordingly.
Each class will include a 15 minute break. Students are encouraged to bring a snack. All students should bring a beverage or water bottle. Please dress for mess and play.
Week 1: July 9-11
Morning 10am-12pm: Clay - Learn techniques for working with clay such as coiling, slab building, and joining components with scoring and slip. Create and apply colored underglazes to several projects. Clay creations will be fired off site in a kiln and ready for pick up a few weeks after the class ends.
Afternoon 1-3pm: Personalize It - It’s all about you! Personalize a canvas tote bag and coordinating pouch, decorate a wooden wall mounted coat hook, create and personalize a leather monogram keychain, and more. Please bring a wearable item (t-shirt, scrunchie, bandana, etc) to decorate.
Week 2: July 16-18
Morning 10am-12pm: Ready, Set, Act - Learn performing basics and vocabulary, participate in acting games that build confidence, practice how to read a script and follow stage directions, and rehearse a short play with a performance on the last day.
Afternoon 1-3pm: Mixed Materials - Make an everlasting cactus in a decorated pot, create a layered Northern Lights painting, and design a wall art silhouette of your choice. Complete these three projects that allow for both structure and creative choices.
Week 3: July 23-25
Morning 10am-12pm: Eco Art: Upcycling - Reuse, repurpose, and revive! Give materials new lives. Create a tote bag from a t-shirt, a leather bookmark from upholstery samples, paint a pot and create a macrame pot hanger from t-shirt yarn, create your own sketchbook with a leather cover from off-cuts, and more.
Afternoon 1-3pm: Sculpt - Explore the properties of air dry and foam clay. Practice techniques and create items best suited for these modeling mediums. Create a pinch pot with lid, photo holders, magnets, a tic-tac-toe board with pieces, a personalized ornament, and more.
