Husband and wife folk music duo “Curtis & Loretta” perform traditional songs from America and the British Isles, as well as their own originals. Dressed in 1800s costumes, they make history come alive with their seamless vocal harmonies and period instruments, including banjo, folk harp, mandocello, harmonica, guitar, and celeste, a vintage keyboard that sounds like bells.

Their performance for Historic Hutchinson will focus on the Hutchinson Family, and how their music began a tradition of songs used as tools to raise people’s consciousness in matters such as slavery, women’s rights, and temperance. Curtis & Loretta will perform some of the Hutchinsons’ original songs along with other traditional songs, and also the duo’s own originals.
